Adventure Awaits

Hi! My name is Jenna! One of my favorite hobbies is traveling and going on new adventures! As I start to prepare for the next big step to be a student teacher, I would love some company along the way, so let's get started on our journey!

The essentials for any successful road trip are good music, snacks, and of course car games! Since we can't play the license plate game, how about we play a simple get-to-know-you game,  5 questions!

1) Where are you from?

If you drive about 30 minutes outside of Erie Pennsylvania, you will land in my hometown! Findley Lake, New York, is a small, quaint town that I call home. I went to Clymer Central school and graduated in 2018 with around 30 students in my class.

2) What are some of your hobbies?

In my free time, I love to play basketball, read my Bible, watch comedy movies, cook Italian food, and ride horses. I used to play basketball in high school and attend different summer camps growing up. I used to take horse riding lessons when I was younger which led me to work on a horse farm for a few years. I don't have much free time, but I love spending the time with my friends and family doing some of the simplest things in life :)

3) Why Penn State and Agriculture Education?

When I started high school, I felt at home in the agriculture classroom. I was a very shy girl and I found my confidence because of the support I had there. During my senior year, I had the wonderful privilege of serving as the NY State FFA Treasurer. While delivering workshops across the state, I fell in love with teaching. My passion for agriculture only grew more and I knew that this is where I needed to be. Penn State is one of the best agriculture schools in the nation, so having the opportunity to attend this amazing university is something I am forever grateful for.

4) What are some of your favorite memories at PSU?

Throughout my 2.5 years at Penn State, I have made some amazing memories. I started my journey at Penn State Behrend for my first year. There I was able to travel to Washington DC and tour places like the Pentagon and White house. Then when I transferred to University Park, some of my favorite clubs I have been part of have been LEAD Society, Spanish Immersion club, and being a partner in Unified basketball. My interest in learning about other cultures led me to minor in Spanish and International Agriculture. I have also been able to serve as an Agriculture Education Avenger participating in events all across the state sharing the joys of agriculture education! This past summer, I was able to serve as a New Student Orientation leader for Penn State. Throughout the summer, my teammates and I were able to welcome nearly 15,000 new students to the Penn State family!

5) What do you want to achieve on this journey?

Throughout this process, I am hoping to learn more about myself. I am very passionate about agriculture, communication, the Spanish culture, and teaching others, however, I am not entirely sure if the classroom is where I am meant to be. I am excited to grow as a leader, professional, and teacher in the next year and a half. I am very grateful for the support team that is riding along with me throughout this journey. My biggest supporters are my sister, Jessie, and my mom and dad!

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me! I hope throughout this process, we will get to learn together, make some great memories and enjoy the adventure of getting to our final destination!
