Let's Reflect About Unit Planning

This semester has been jam-packed with assignments, teaching, and lesson/unit planning! Just last week, I went through the process of writing a unit plan and then peer reviewing my cohort member's unit plans to provide feedback. They then reviewed my unit plan to provide feedback for me to fix before I submit the final copy.

Some of the successful elements of writing a unit plan include organization and detail. Some of the best unit plans included all of the details about class times, lesson descriptions, and objectives for each lesson. I think that this will make teaching easier as all of the details were easy to understand and will help the teacher be more prepared.

An ahh haa moment that I had during this assignment was about including a grading rubric for participation and projects/assignments. I thought it was cool to see how the grades would be calculated at the end of the unit!

I struggled with finding an organizational strategy that I thought would work for my teaching strategy. I also worked on including more details in my unit plan including specific dates and a grading rubric at the end! All in all, this was a very helpful and practical experience that I will be able to use my knowledge as I continue to plan for student teaching!
