My first event attended was the session where we were able to meet the author of our GLAG reads book, Ms. Hoffmann! Being from New York, I was excited to hear how he is a professor at Cornell University and to learn about his background of how he loved to travel! I thought this was an inspiring session as he felt the need to write a book to address climate change, but be able to connect this issue with every consumer as he used food as his main inspiration!
I was able to participate in the GLAG reads group reflecting on various questions pertaining to the book, "Our Changing Menu." Although I didn't answer every question, I still tried to actively engage and highlighted key points that I would like to include in my teaching while reading this book!
I also enjoyed learning about ways to incorporate various projects into the classroom while teaching about the importance of the agriculture industry. The presentation from the Asia Society Center for Global Education presented very relevant information that I am eager to apply! All in all, I certainly learned a lot about the issues and trends in the agriculture industry throughout my involvement in GLAG and I cannot wait to continue learning in the future!
