Week 1 is complete! This week of observations could not have been a better start to my student teaching internship!

Once returning back to Gettysburg, some highlights from the week would be networking and being given the gift of time! Within a few days, I have already been able to meet so many teachers and faculty members from around the school. Another highlight on top of being able to interact with students has simply been getting all of my lessons and materials prepared for the following weeks of teaching! I am nervous but very excited to teach my first class next week!
I started the week off by joining my cooperating teachers and future students at the Pennsylvania Farm Show for the FFA Mid-Winter Convention. I really enjoyed seeing two of the Battlefield FFA members receive their Keystone State Degree on stage! Being able to see over 400 new FFA members put on their own FFA jackets for the first time was also another memorable experience from the convention.
Some opportunities for growth that I have identified for myself are to build my confidence and make sure everything is prepared a week in advance. With struggling to get access to printing, I have made it a goal for myself to have everything completed a whole week in advance so then I do not have to rely on my cooperating teacher to print for me last minute. I also want to work on my confidence next week while teaching. These students have been incredible to talk with and I can see how the #WarriorWay Values live in these students. I want to be at my best every day for these amazing students, so by working on my confidence, I hope that I can become a stronger teacher each week.
Stay tuned next week to see how my first week of teaching goes on my journey through agricultural education!
Jenna,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! I think you really hit a key element - planning horizons. Usually, the further we can extend our planning ahead, the more capacity we have to "flex" and adapt when the bumps occur (ie broken copier, no printing, supplies, etc)
Keep riding the wave :)
Jenna,
ReplyDeleteYou have pointed out such an invaluable thing-time. I know you will continue to adapt and overtime challenges in the classroom with time and by gaining experiences in the classroom each day! With this, confidence will come your way because you have an amazing passion that will shine through with each of the students you impact.
Can't wait to see everything you do at Gettysburg,
Morgan :)
